Land meets sea with the earthy tones of gin and the brine of oysters. Add some lime citrus and everything blends together swimmingly.
After volunteering to help the Falmouth Department of Natural Resources move their oyster beds, I came home with a cooler of fresh loot.
This called for a gimlet.
My lightbulb turned on when I realized I had never mixed oysters with spirits before. A test kitchen immediately followed, and the result is the fabulous blend of brine, earth, and citrus in the recipe below.
- 1 dozen oysters, shucked
- Juice of 1 lime
- 1 shot of gin
- Zest of 1 lime, grated or finely chopped
Mix the gin, lime juice, and zest. Pour a small amount on each oyster. Serve!
